Students of MECH 452, a fourth-year Mechatronics course led by Professor Brian Surgenor, were tasked to present their end of term project online. Dr. Surgenor forwarded these two “out of the ordinary” submissions from the past academic year.

Dr. Surgenor is overseeing the launch this fall of Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, a new program in the faculty. The MRE program is direct-entry—students are immediately immersed in the discipline, as opposed to sharing a common course load in first-year—and a unique combination of three disciplines: computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Through custom new courses, a hands-on technology experience, and progressive design projects, students will think objectively and acquire the skills to succeed in a versatile engineering career.
